ANTALYA, TURKEY – GOLF PARADISE IN THE WINTER

Antalya, Turkey, in ancient times had an important role. Tradition says that King Attalos, when he saw the area of Antalya for the first time, described this place as paradise on earth. The natural harbor and the surrounding fertile region made it the ideal home for settlers throughout the centuries. It is located in southwest Turkey, directly on the Mediterranean. From Antalya Airport, it is only a half-hour transfer time by bus to Belek. Whoever hears the name of Belek associates it with modern and luxurious hotels and golf. Comfortable, luxurious five-star hotels next to the golf courses allow additional outdoor recreational experiences. The most expensive hotel in Europe (Mardan Palace) is next to the golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Around of the town of Belek, 18 golf courses are located close together. Here we can also find the largest golf course in Turkey, the 45-hole Gloria Golf Resort. The climate is mild throughout the winter. The flight time is only three hours from Germany. The region is ideal for golf training camps in the winter when the snow in Germany does not allow for golf. The fairways run along some beautiful sandy beaches, and the background provides a spectacular backdrop, the snow-capped Taurus Mountains.

The golf courses are at the highest level and of excellent quality. The fairways are among pine and eucalyptus trees, with dozens of bunkers and water hazards strategically placed. The golf courses were designed by European and international architects such as David Jones, Peter Thomson, Perrett & Lobb, Nick Faldo Golf Institute, Michael Gayon, Perry O. Dye and Dye Designs, David Feherty, Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas, and Colin Montgomerie.
